A New Spin On Toilets

This brief vignette appeared in the September 2015 issue of “Fine Homebuilding”. If you are thinking about remodeling your bathrooms, you should seriously consider replacing your old toilets as well as your tile, floors, counter tops, shower, light fixtures, and tub.

“A NEW SPIN ON TOILETS” by Debra Judge Silber, design editor “Fine Homebuilding”

“The VorMax toilet from American Standard eliminates conventional rim holes and rim in favor of a single opening that releases a jet of water at the top of the bowl. The manufacturer contends that this concentrated burst is more effective at sweeping away detritus clinging to the bowl than the multiple rim holes found on most household toilets. It’s an approach that is similar to that used in Toto’s Double Cyclone flush system, which was introduced a few years ago, though the VorMax employs one jet rather than two.

Using only 1.28 gallons per flush, the VorMax is certified under the EPA’s WaterSense program. It’s available in four models sold by different retailers.”

We have replaced two toilets in our home with high efficiency toilets. They have performed well, use much less water than the older, conventional toilets, and we received a rebate from the city (Allen, Texas) for having these toilets installed in our home. Check with your local municipality regarding rebates and incentives connected with these modern, water conserving toilets.
