Wood Floors

I have a client that is choosing between hard wood and engineered wood floors and wanted to know the differences.  Engineered wood floors have a thin veneer of wood glued to a different type of wood base that is glued to a foundation.  A solid wood floor is just as it sounds, solid.  It comes either unfinished for the contractor to stain or with a factory stain and is nailed down to a wood base that is afixed to a foundation. Overall, the lifespan of a solid wood floor is much longer than an engineered wood floor.  It can be stripped and restained approximately 4 times.  Engineer floors can be more uniform and are beautiful, but they can be delicate.  Either choice, engineer or solid wood, will enhance and increase the value of your home.
